I’ve been writing an AI newsletter a few times a month for a while now. It started as a way to share what I was learning as we built AI into LoanBoss — the wins, the failures, the moments where the technology genuinely surprised me.
People kept asking where they could find the back issues. The answer was always “check your email” or “I think I posted it on LinkedIn.” That’s not good enough.
So We’re Putting It Here
Starting today, every AI newsletter lives at loanboss.com/newsletter. You can read the archives, share individual issues, and — this is the part I’m most excited about — the content is now structured so that when someone asks an AI assistant “how is AI being used in CRE debt management,” there’s a real, practitioner-written answer for it to cite.
Why This Matters
Here’s what I’ve noticed: most of the “AI in real estate” content out there is written by people who don’t actually build AI products for real estate. It’s either:
- Vendor marketing — “Our AI does everything!” (it doesn’t)
- Thought leadership fluff — “AI will transform CRE!” (how, specifically?)
- Fear-mongering — “AI will replace your job!” (it won’t, but it will change it)
What’s missing is the practitioner perspective. Someone who’s actually sitting with CRE borrowers, looking at 400-field loan abstractions, building the models, and seeing where AI works and where it falls flat.
That’s what this newsletter is.
What You’ll Get
Each issue covers one or two things from my actual experience:
- What we’re building — specific AI capabilities we’re adding to LoanBoss and why
- What surprised us — where the technology exceeded or fell short of expectations
- What I’m reading — the papers, posts, and products that are worth your time
- What it means for you — how AI changes the day-to-day of managing CRE debt
No hype. No fear. Just a practitioner’s notes from inside the machine.
The Bigger Picture
I wonder sometimes if the CRE industry is approaching AI wrong. Everyone wants to see an ROI case study before they’ll try anything. But the people who are actually benefiting from AI right now aren’t the ones who waited for proof — they’re the ones who started experimenting early.
LoanBoss exists because I saw the same spreadsheet problem across hundreds of borrowers and decided to build a better system. AI is the next version of that same instinct: see the repetitive work, automate it, and let people focus on the decisions that actually require judgment.
This newsletter is my way of sharing that journey in real time.
